Football

Unfortunately Souldern Football Club which used to play regular fixtures on the playing field by the village hall closed at the end of 2016
and withdrew from the local league.

This page is being kept for historical interest, and may be revived if organised football again returns to the village.

Originally formed in the 1920s Souldern Football Club was re-formed just after the war in 1947  and currently play in the second division of the Banbury District and Lord Jersey League.

The current team revolves around 2 families - Cavender and Moggridge and associated close friends and there is a real family feel about the club with family members and children coming to watch games. The 2015/2016 has started with 24 players signed on, with brothers Matt and Joe Hamilton resident in the village.

In recent years we have seen a slow demise in village football which is a particular concern in respect of grass roots football, but there is a real desire to ensure that Souldern continues to keep its football club.

The football team is supported by a committee which consists of the following members:

Colin Lester — Chairman
Rachel Cavender — Treasurer
Jo Moggridge — Secretary
Paul Moggridge — Vice Chairman
Neil Moggridge — Committee Member and Club Captain
Alec Hardey — Committee Member and Club Manager
Paul Jackson — Committee Member and player
Frank Todd — Committee Member
